the Un-Men cover you'll never see in print :: censorship and good taste

tomer :: the plot does go there, but the editors felt it was a bit much.

Yes, the plot does go there. I love that cover and I'm sorry to hear that it's been, well, aborted.

  3. That's a shame. That's a great cover.

This is a fun, creepy book you, John, and Mike put out month after month. The covers, the story, and the art give a nice little package. Thanks guys, keep up the good work.

  4. well put John... I know Mike is going there as well, so not all is lost. i believe the actual scene is much more gruesome-- this was a soft impression anyways.

e- thanks, i haven't got my copies yet...

danijel- glad you are enjoying the book... i'm always tense when i read the advance scripts, you just never know where it's going to hit you next. or what it was for that matter.

It may be a bit much, but it would be neat if they offered an optional variant cover by order only, because this still just way too dang sweet.

Are you planning on continuing the Unmen covers? Every month I love to see what you bring to these, as well as what JJ brings to the Fables covers. Amazing technical skill, and a great inspiration.

    Wow, that's... really cool!!
I'd love to see that on a rack.

    But, what's this Jux cover?
    Juxtapoz or something else?

  9. danijel, thanks for digging the book!

spencer g, I think John, Jon, and I are in agreement. We hope Tomer stays on the book forever!! ;)

I do actually do this scene in issue 7, and it is indeed WORSE then this. Tomer did a good job of not making it THAT gorey, I think.

It's beautifully done, and it is a shame that it got cut.

Just saw the cover to #8 and that's pretty fantastic too!

THIS IS WITH OUT QUESTION, ONE OF THE MOST CRAZIEST COVERS THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN!!

I WOULD HAVE LET YOU TAKE TO PRINT, JUST FROM THE WAY IT IS.

THERE NEEDS TO BE SOMETHING TO SHAKE THINGS UP SOMETIME.

IT'S HARD TO STARE AT, BUT GREAT TO LOOK AT!!

JUST WHEN I THOUGHT THE ZOMBIE ICE CREAM SCENE WAS INTENSE!

If by "too much" they felt it would have sold copies, I agree. That is SICK. Great cover. All the covers have been great.
